It's a first CD of Lavrenty Mganga (there were only cassette albums before). Its title speaks for itself and is something like a 'manifesto': minimal(ist) art. The music presented here is a result of experiments with minimalist ideology (in the most abstract meaning of the term, technically this material is not homogenous and sometimes not 'minimalist' at all in usual sense). The author just tried, using available means, to apply this ideology in several different fields of musical culture. Some pieces are extremely simple, the principles of their composition are very 'transparent', others are created in unusual (not quite understandable by average listener) melodic and rhythmic systems. Though composer in fact used a computer as a sound source, this music is not 'electronic' or 'electro-acoustic'. Almost all these pieces can be performed on 'live' acoustic instruments. The composer tried to make the album as a definite composition entity

The album Ars Minimal has received quite wide international recognition for this kind of music. In Russia, it received approving comments from prominent composers and musicologists, including Dmitry Ukhov in his radio program "All Music of the World". On the mp3.com - most popular music site in the history of Internet - compositions from this album were at the top positions in charts during year of 2000. This CD has been released by several labels in US, Netherlands, Spain.
